WHAT WE OFFER
Apis Books offers everything a traditional publisher does: an advance on royalties, editing, cover copy and art, professional page designs, copyediting, marketing materials, online promotion, proofreading, attempts at getting quotes and reviews, assistance with PR opportunities, and a marketing plan.
Because we are a smaller company, we are able to work closely with each author and develop a marketing plan that works best for Apis Books and each individual author. The market for books is a changing landscape, and everything is shifting more and more to digital formats. However, people will always need new stories to discover, and each book requires the same amount of professional work put into it, no matter what the end format is.

THE PUBLISHER
GAYLE COTTRILL
Apis Books has been a vision of Gayle Cottrill's for several years, and she finally decided to make it happen. She has been writing, illustrating, and self-publishing her own books since the age of five, so she has always been fascinated in books from a wondering thought to a newly bound product.
Gayle has a bachelor's degree from UW-Madison in reporting and strategic communication. During her time in Madison, she completed course studies in magazine publishing, market research, and advertising. She worked for two years as an editorial intern and then an editorial assistant for a science fiction and fantasy book editor, where she gained experience and knowledge of the intricate process a book must follow from an author's pen to a reader's hands. Since 2013, Gayle has been a freelance editor, copyeditor, and graphic designer, and is the marketing coordinator of a promotional team tasked with developing and implementing a marketing plan to sell a work of nonfiction.
As an aspiring author herself, Gayle understands how difficult it is to get noticed (especially without an agent) by an editor who works for a traditional book publisher. Many authors resort to self-publishing, but that route is time consuming and expensive. And besides, as an author, you should be paid for your creative work!
With Apis Books, Gayle is bringing all of her passions together to create a company that fulfills her desire to read, write, and design, while providing a service for authors who are looking to land a publishing deal and who deserve the chance to have their dream of being published become a reality.
